"Toys for Tweets"

While you are shopping for your bird(s) nice new toys, please consider donating one or more of our toys at a discounted rate and have it shipped for FREE to the rescue organization of your choice.  A lot of the birds at these organizations can only dream about having nice new toys all the time because it takes so much money once the rescuers get them just to get them back into good health, and provide the necessities like food and caging.  We all know how much our birds enjoy their toys, and how important it is to provide them with safe and stimulating toys.  Big Beaks is asking for you, our customers, to help us, help them, with our new Toys for Tweets program.....  Simply choose the toy (at a discounted amount) you would like to donate, and then choose the organization of your choice.   Simply add it to your current order, and Big Beaks will do the rest.  We will make the toy, and send it to the rescue organization you choose, and ship it to them for FREE.  It will arrive with your name so they will know who was so nice to make the donation.

You can scroll all the way down towards the bottom of this page to get a little more information about the organizations that are part of our "toys for tweets" program.

If you know of an organization we didn't include that may be interested in this program, please have them contact us.  We are updating this on a regular basis.  We have lots of people that are requesting to be part of this program.

Please help a rescued parrot today!!

Our best selling toy!!  Your bird has to work at this huge chunk of wood to get to the 12 almonds or the 20 brightly colored flower beads.  The cool part about this toy is.... Unlike most, that are hung from the top where your bird is going to chew FIRST, it has a chain that goes all the way down through the center!  So it will last until all the wood is chewed! There is a bird safe welded ring at the bottom, plus some fun plastic star rings, and large beads to spin around!  Very heavy duty toy!!!  It measures 10 long, and it's 3 1/2 inches square! $27.99 $17.99 Discounted Donation Price

Foraging Fun Froggie

This is a durable foraging bird toy like no other.  An adorable frog sits on top of a very thick clear acrylic ball.  The ball has four 1/2" holes around the top it.  I have found that pine nuts, seed, and pellets fit perfect in this size hole.  This foraging toy is a little more for the "advanced" foragers out there, but can be given to any bird.  The reason is, it's a little more difficult for your bird to figure out how to turn the ball upside down to get the treats out.  Once they do, they will love this toy and always check to see if you've added anything knew to it.  Everything is hung with chain and it measures approximately 10 inches long by 3 inches wide. $24.99 $18.99 Discounted Donation Price

If you have a cockatoo or african grey, this type of toy is a must have!  Endless, indestructible entertainment is what you get with this great toy!  Great for both medium and large birds, so you can alternate if you have both.  I have a goffins and a moluccan, and they both would rather unscrew nuts and bolts to forage for food then to chew on a wood  toy.  All parts on this toy are dishwasher safe.  The bolts and wing nuts are stainless steel to last a lifetime.  It will come pre-filled with everyone's favorite "Nutriberries," and it's very easy to refill after these are gone.  You can put seed, pellets, other treats, fun little toy parts, just about anything inside.  Your bird can see them, but they have to undo the wing nuts, and pull out the bolts in order to get to them.  This toy can have several different levels of fun as well by simply taking away the wing nuts and bolts, or taking away the beads inside.  The holes in the clear tube are 5/8 inch in diameter, and have smooth, safe edges.   It measures 2 inches wide and 12 inches long. $49.99 $32.99 Discounted Donation Price

Living with a parrot is not easy.  Parrots are wild creatures.  They may be domestically bred, but they are not domesticated.  Parrots are messy creatures.  They fling food.  They will poop on your carpet.  They will eat your furniture.  They may never speak, but they will be loud.  The will be jealous of your friends and family.  They will bite.  Parrots are high maintenance companions, and they don't care about money.  A parrot is a very long term commitment.  The larger parrots can live to be 80 years old.  Please before you consider sharing your home with a parrot, learn about parrots.  Join a local bird club, perhaps then adopt a parrot, at the club, and save a life!!

National Parrot Rescue & Preservation Foundation rescues, rehabilitates, and re - homes displaced parrots. We are committed to the education of current and prospective parrot owners and parrot related organizations.  Because parrots can often outlive their owners, can be discarded, abandoned, or lost from their homes, NPRPF strives to improve our rescue efforts for parrots and aide owners in need.  Because many rescued parrots arrive emotionally unstable which can manifest it's self in unwanted behaviors, our goal is to recruit and train volunteers for rehabilitation and parrot care efforts.  NPRPF needs a large base of prospective suitable qualified parrot homes and is actively seeking applications for placement.

Increasingly, these intelligent and beautiful birds are becoming household companions. Meanwhile, their native rain forests and deserts are being rapidly consumed for use by people. As guardians of our pets, and growing consumers of the land, it is our responsibility to provide care and help for parrots -- both in domesticity and in the wild.
